This poem was honored with a reading at a church service in
Bagdad, Iraq, for our Troops, by a Soldier in the Green Zone.
Two Boots
Side By Side
Bloody
Two Empty
Together
Worn
Two Boots
No longer warm
Wet
Soldier boots
Battle scared
Wounded
Too many Boots
Side by side
Empty

A war poem for the obvious reason. The real reason to avoid war... two boots, two shoes, two ..or more.

Just happened across this. So appropriate though, given that it is Memorial Day Weekend. The starkness and brevity of each stanza just seems to underscore the words. Very well done.
